First Sunday in Advent

With Thanksgiving

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The Apostle Paul wrote,
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now. (Philippians 1:3-5)

Looking back on the past year, there is much to be thankful for at Good Shepherd.

We give thanks for the Baptisms, First Communions, and Confirmations we celebrated this year.

We give thanks for those who give their brothers and sisters in Christ rides to church.

We give thanks for those who nourish us through meals and coffee hours.

We give thanks for the parents who bring their wiggly children to church.

We give thanks for those who take care of our building and the grounds.

We give thanks for those who are willing to serve on boards, committees and in church leadership.

We give thanks for the members of the LWML who support acts of mercy in and outside of the congregation.

We give thanks for the families that attended Family Nights this past summer.

We give thanks for the children’s choir that leads the congregation in song.

We give thanks for our musicians who support the Divine Service with their talents.

We give thanks for our shut-in members who show us how to dwell in God’s Word even when they are unable to be regularly among us.

We give thanks for our greeters, ushers, acolytes, and altar guild members.

We give thanks for a congregation that studies the Word of God together.

We give thanks for those who teach Sunday School and support our Youth Group.

We give thanks for our brothers and sisters God has placed in our midst, that we would grow together in faith and be led to His eternal kingdom.

I give thanks for you!

A blessed Thanksgiving,
Pastor Rogness
