Seventh Sunday of Easter

Visiting the Sheep

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Throughout my ministry, it has not been uncommon for someone to tell me on a Sunday morning that they were hospitalized the previous week. When this happens, I reassure them that if they let me know, I will come and visit. The response I often receive is something like, “We didn’t want to inconvenience you,” or “you are already pretty busy.”

Visiting the sheep is the reason God sent me to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Just as Jesus speaks with Peter after the resurrection, pastors are sent to “tend and feed His sheep.” (John 21:16-17)

Living with you allows me to share God’s Word not only during your times of need but also in moments of joy. Being present with you enables your ears to hear the voice of Jesus, to know Him, and to be known by Him.

But you also don’t need an emergency for a pastoral visit. I’m always happy to stop by for a chat, a cup of coffee, or just to say hello.

So don’t be afraid to give me a call. I’m here and always happy to visit.

In Christ Jesus,
Pastor Rogness
