Second Sunday in Lent (Reminiscere)

Psalms of Lament

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Lent is in full swing now. As we journey through the season, our midweek services meditate on the Psalms of Lament.

We all lament in life, but to whom?

The Psalms we will continue to meditate on will help us learn to lament as individuals and as a collective gathering of God’s people, a church. So, what is at the heart of lamenting? A lament expresses grief, sorrow, and regret to God. Often, the individual praying the Psalms of Lament feels abandoned or lonely. The heart is being tossed to and fro, and you, the one praying, don’t know where else to go, so out of this pain and misery, your voice joins the Psalmist in crying out to God, and by doing so, you entrust the deep despair of the heart to God – you exercise faith in Him to care for you.

Please consider joining us in this Lententide as we again learn to lament the pains of life and call upon God to deliver us.

In the peace of Christ,
Pastor Rogness
