Second Sunday of Easter (Quasimodo Geniti)

Alleluia! Christ is Risen!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Alleluia! Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

It was a joy to gather and sing praise to our risen Lord last week and let our Alleluias ring again! But Easter is not over!

The first two weeks of the Easter season are known as Eastertide, and the liturgy and hymnody emphasize the joy of Christ’s resurrection. So we still have the Festival Alleluia this week, along with the singing of “This is the Feast” after the distribution of the Lord’s Supper.

Things will begin to return to normal during the Third Sunday in Easter, but the joy of Christ’s resurrection abides with us now through the Festival of Pentecost and the sending of the Holy Spirit.

As we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, I’d encourage you to listen to Lutheran Public Radio – they play the hymns and music of the church all year long, but for the coming weeks the music will focus on the joy of Easter!

Alleluia! Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!

See you on Sunday!
Pastor Rogness
